Ecumenical Dialogue NZ churches & UN World Council of Churches

The Question here is.. what is the Catholic Churches interest in having Ecumenical Dialogue with the three major protestant religions in NZ. the Catholic church being a 'minority' religion in NZ in comparason to the PRotestant following, and why do the protestant churches go along with this?

Ecumenical Dialogues

At present the Catholic Church participates in three bilateral dialogues:
the Anglican/Roman Catholic dialogue which meets in Auckland
the Methodist/Roman Catholic dialogue which meets alternately in Hamilton and Auckland
the Presbyterian/Roman Catholic dialogue which meets in Dunedin.
